An actor becomes successful when he/she receive an award for their acting skills. A 12-day celebration of the success of Indian cinema released in 2018 where all stars are gathered to take the glory or pride in their hand. Indian Film Festival of Melbourne is one of a film festival where Indian underrated film is broadcasted. The Indian Film Festival of Melbourne (IFFM) was founded in 2012. It is a State Government of Victoria funded annual festival based in Melbourne. It is presented by Film Victoria, and the provider is chosen through a tender process. The current tender provider is Mind Blowing Films, run by Mitu Bhowmick Lange. The festival has currently been provided with State Government funding till 2018.
The festival kicked off on 10th August and witnessed its biggest event on 12th August at the Palais Theatre. That night people witnessed many speechless performances and one of them was Sachin Jigar soulful performance. This year Manoj Bajpayee bagged the best actor award for his brilliant acting in short film Gali Guleiyan (In the shadow) while Rani Mukherjee bagged the best actress award for movie Hichki. Sanju and Love Sonia took home the majority of awards like Love Sonia won an award for being the best Indie Film and also appreciated Richa Chadda for her commendable performance in Love Sonia by awarding her as Best supporting actress. Even Frida Pinto who came back to Bollywood industry with movie Love Sonia and she was awarded for her performance Diversity award. Sanju film received three awards and they are Best film award, Vicky Kaushal for Best supporting performance, Rajkumar Hirani bagged best director award and Ranbir Kapoor won IFFM Vanguard award for his breakthrough performance in film Sanju. Mahanati a biopic movie based on actress Savitri in which Keerthy Suresh in the titular role won a special award for equality in cinema.
This event started on 10th August with an Opening night with the movie “Love Sonia” on another day whole Melbourne celebrated the Indian flag hosting that took place at Federation Square at 11 am. One of the most loved events was the Telstra Bollywood dance event and panel discussion took place on same day. Our all-time favorite award night took place on 12th August. On 13th August special screening of the film, Sanju took place at LA Trobe University and on the same day Q&Ans session with Rajkumar Hirani and Simi Grewal. In upcoming days we are going to witness a Q & A session with Prakash Kunte for his Marathi film cycle while on 18th August there would be the screening of the film The Extraordinary Journey of Fakir at HOYTS Melbourne Central. On 19th August there is a world premiere of the film The Extraordinary Journey of Fakir in English and Kuch Bheege Alfaz would be painted on 70mm screen. On the same day, there is Q & A session with the director of film Kuch Bheege Alfaaz Onir.On 20th there is Q & A session with the creator of film Tikli and Lakshmi Bomb which is on air on Netflix Aditya Kriplani. On the closing night that will take place on 22nd, August Sir film would be presented to the viewers. It is one of the greatest celebration events for celebrities.
