This August get ready to witness the festival of fashion, Lakme Fashion Week is ready to bring its winter/festive 2018 edition and it will start from 22nd August. This five-day fashion parade will take place in St. Regis Hotel.
The idea of Lakme Fashion week was brought and started by IMG Reliance and the title sponsored by Lakme. They celebrated their first successful event in 1999 where international models such as Naomi Campbell as well as Indian film stars such as Deepika Padukone, Malaika Arora Khan, and Arjun Rampal have participated in it. Some international brands were also there Louis Vuitton, Dolce & Gabbana and many more. This event has also given some great talents like Sabyasachi.
The 38th season aims to support new talent and introduce inclusive platforms for them. In this Winter/festive edition SmartWater, a leading water business who joined hands with Lakme Fashion Week is going to provide platforms for the budding designers. On 25th June SmartWater tweeted, “SmartWater presents The Platform – a program that spotlights new ideas and designers at @LakmeFashionWk. This means exploring unexpected avenues of fashion & being open to redefining the industry. We’re looking for young designers to be part of this program. #inspiredbyclouds”. LFW and SmartWater have picked three new designers who were the winner of “The Platform” for this season who will showcase the new age collections. These winners are Kanika Goyal, Shanti and Wear puchki label. The jury members for this edition are Anoop Manohar; Tina Tahiliani; Jaspreet Chandook head-fashion, IMS Reliance Ltd; Payal Khandwala; Nonita Kalra, editor, Harper’s Bazaar India; Sheetal Mallar. A dream come true for the aspiring six models who got the golden opportunity who will walk for Lakme Fashion Week winter/festive edition. The models are Priti Jana from Kolkata; Rewati Chetri from Assam; Dechka Asthakumar from Bengaluru; Mariana Falaschi from Italy; Sharvi Bhujbal from Mumbai and Rishita Koruturu from Hyderabad.
